Weaver Family Foundation

Mission Statement
The Weaver Family Foundation, established in 1999, is located in Boulder, Colorado. The foundation funds Colorado based, non-sectarian charitable programs that focus on education, community service, and the preservation of our natural environment. The Weaver Family Foundation also supports programs that enhance Jewish life and spiritual renewal in the United States, Israel, and other countries around the world.

Eligibility
The Weaver Family Foundation funds grant requests from non-profit organizations whose missions are aligned with those of the foundation.  Only invited letters and proposals are accepted for our two annual grant making cycles.  Specific information about how to apply is forwarded to those organizations from which proposals are solicited.

The foundation has a very full funding docket and we are not actively pursuing new grantees. Organizations whose mission is well aligned with our mission who would like us to be aware of their work may send an e-mail of no more than 500 words to info@weaverfoundation.org. If the foundation is interested in exploring further, the executive director will make a contact with the organization. Most submitters should not expect any response from the foundation, as we do not have staff to respond to the volume of requests we receive.

Grants are awarded for projects consistent with our mission statement. Grants are limited to U.S. organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or to governmental entities. Grants will only be approved for foreign entities that meet specific charitable status requirements and have established a fiduciary relationship with a United States tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

The Weaver Family Foundation encourages projects that are developed in collaboration with other organizations in an effort to produce a meaningful array of programs and to minimize project duplication. The Weaver Family Foundation expects applicant organizations to show a commitment to sound management practices and to demonstrate active involvement of a board of directors and the support of relevant clients or target groups.

The Foundation will consider proposals seeking support for more than one year, but discourages applicants from applying for funds for a period of more than three years. All grants approved for more than one year are conditional and are subject to annual review and approval before funds for subsequent years are released.

The Weaver Family Foundation does not usually provide financial support for:

  • Non-sectarian programs outside of Colorado
  • Locally-focused Jewish programs in communities outside of Colorado
  • Grants to individuals
  • Arts and Cultural Programs
  • Medically-related Organizations
  • Programs appropriately financed by a governmental agency
  • Permanent financing of a program
  • Grants that trigger expenditure responsibility by Weaver Family Foundation.
